Dry skin occurs when exposed to unsuitable soaps, detergents, cleansers and other cosmetic products. The result is a thinner stratum corneum and a destroyed protective fatty layer above the barrier.
This means that water- and fat-soluble harmful substances can easily penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and the body’s interior. The skin excessively loses water, becomes dry, rough, it peels/itches; premature wrinkles appear.
In addition to genetic predisposition, the following factors have the greatest impact on skin health: exposure to UV radiation (excessive sunbathing, tanning beds), chemical toxins, smoking, alcohol, poor diet, insufficient fluid intake, lack of rest, stress and aging.
